Side-tracked
One blog this year. Hearty work-rate there! I promise to start writing incisive and pithy comment on life's rich pageant next year. In the meantime, I've been looking at all the best of lists in Mojo, Uncut etc and by gum, they are a bit consistent this year aren't they? If you don't like P J Harvey then .....look elsewhere. I've been following The Quietus a bit but they are super, super left field. You really have to take some of their recommendations with a John Peel sized pinch of salt. That said, the lists include some belters and I'd recommend Wire, Fleet Foxes, Bon Iver and The War on Drugs to anyone. Kate Bush’s 50 Words For Snow needs discussing. I’m not sure that anyone has cracked it yet in the reviews. It needs some serious listening and I can’t fathom it at present. One for later.
